Don't miss these astronomy events in August 2023.

• August is a fantastic month for astronomy buffs, with a plethora of celestial events to enjoy. Here are just a few highlights:


The Perseid meteor shower: 

The Perseid meteor shower is one of the most popular of the year, peaking in August. At the peak of the shower, which occurs on the night of August 12 and the morning of August 13, you can expect to see up to 100 meteors per hour.


Saturn will be at its closest point to Earth in August, making it an excellent time to observe the planet through a telescope. Its rings and moons will be visible in amazing detail.

Day of Zero Shadow:

At noon on August 18, the Sun will be directly overhead in several parts of India. This is known as Zero Shadow Day, and it is extremely rare.

Blue Moon:


There will be two full moons in August, the second on August 31. This is referred to as a blue moon.

• Aside from these main events, there are a number of other astronomical phenomena to look out for in August, including the -Cygnid meteor shower, the Moon's conjunction with Saturn, and the Moon at perigee.
